Safe Exam Browser (SEB)
The SEB is browser software — similar to Google Chrome or Firefox — that is installed locally on the device. An SEB exam can only be started with the Safe Exam Browser.
In SEB, the device is put into kiosk mode. In this mode, the following are restricted or blocked:
- Programs (apps)
- Documents
- Websites
- Device functions
After the exam has ended, SEB can be closed. The device is then available again without restrictions.
Recommendation
- Be sure to install and test the SEB on your laptop well in advance to avoid technical problems on the day of the exam.
- Save and close all unsaved files before starting the SEB. This will prevent possible data loss.
