Why would you need to run on Piz Daint?
With Piz Daint you can run massively parallel applications, profiting from the high-speed interconnect among the nodes.
Piz Daint is a highly specialized HPC Supercomputer for massively parallel applications or for applications with distributed memory needs.
The Regulations of the Use of IT-Resources at UZH are binding for all users; acceptance of these policies is implicit in the use of the system. In addition, the usage policies of CSCS apply.
Notifications and requests from the system administrators are sent by email; you are required to read and -if needed- react on these emails within the given timeframe.
How to get access
All researchers at the University of Zurich with computational needs that require such a system are eligible to get access. Access to the Piz Daint is given based on an evaluation of the needs by S3IT staff, mapping the problem to the right infrastructure available through S3IT (ScienceCloud or Piz Daint).
Ask for access by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. We will get back to you and set up an in-person meeting to give you an introduction to the systems.

A share of 340 nodes of Piz Daint is available to the University of Zurich. This corresponds to a total of 12'240 cores and 822 TFlops.
