Preparation, Access Rights and Publication

Overview

All livestream managers are automatically also recording managers, as every livestream is recorded by the system.

If you only conduct one livestream per semester, we will be happy to take care of the preparation and publication for you—on a best-effort basis.

Preparation

The livestream can be ordered using the application form. Select
«Livestreaming of the event, including recording (podcast optional)».

Once the livestream has been programmed by MELS, you, as the person responsible for the livestream, should make the following adjustments:

  • Configure access rights
  • Edit metadata
  • Deactivate the comment function if necessary (activated by default)

Depending on the type of publication (see below), these adjustments are made in OLAT or in SWITCHcast MediaSpace.

Access Rights

In OLAT

As a course administrator, you can use the member management function and the Kaltura module in OLAT to control who has access to the integrated livestreams.

In SWITCHcast MediaSpace

If you do not work with OLAT, you define the access rights in SWITCHcast MediaSpace.
We recommend creating a channel (this does not happen automatically) and controlling the rights via the channel instead of via individual livestreams.

Default settings

  • MELS sets the access right to «private» by default.
  • If you extend the settings to «organization», please note:
    • This change affects the handling of copyrighted material.
    • Third-party material in presentations may then no longer be considered part of a closed course.
