Important Notes on Scanning
Scanning personnel should test their devices before the exam and report any issues to the exam management in good time. Problems may occur particularly with certain iPhone models. In such cases, Android devices or tablets should be used as alternatives.
General tips
- Hold the in portrait orientation
- Disable screen rotation
- Ensure good lighting conditions
Notes for iOS users
-
The camera must be explicitly allowed the first time scanning is used; permanent access is recommended to avoid repeated permission pop-ups
(in Safari settings under website settings; other browsers may have limited options) -
iPhones often have multiple rear cameras. The dual wide-angle or ultra-wide-angle camera usually works best.
-
To switch the camera in the scan dialog, scanning must first be stopped, after which another camera can be selected.
-
If there are focusing issues, reloading the page (which restarts the camera) often helps.
Scan Results
- Successful scan: A green message appears for 2 seconds and then disappears automatically. The next card can then be scanned. Exam participants are moved from the admission group to “Admission Group – Present” and thus gain access to the exam component.
- Unsuccessful scan: A red message appears with error details. This message must be closed manually before the next card can be scanned.
