Terms of Use for Zoom at the UZH
The University of Zurich (UZH) provides the videoconferencing software Zoom for teaching, studying, and other digital events. Please observe the following conditions and recommendations when using it.
1. Centrally managed Campus Licences
Only use the centrally managed Zoom campus licences. These are the only licenses that guarantee a legally compliant and data-protection-compliant configuration. You can recognize the campus license because the address (URL) begins with “https://uzh.zoom.us/…” .
The use of other Zoom licenses or self-configured installations is not permitted, as UZH is required to ensure data protection compliance for all licenses used for official purposes.
2. Login via Single Sign-On (SSO)
According to the IT security policies of UZH, Zoom may only be used with a personal UZH login via Single Sign-On (SSO).

Do not share the username and password of your campus license account with third parties.

5. Use of the Zoom Campus Account
The Zoom campus account is intended exclusively for purposes related to studying, teaching, or professional activities at UZH.
- Limited private use is permitted, but it should be kept to a minimum.
- Private large-scale events (e.g., association meetings) are not permitted.
- Commercial use is prohibited.
Security and Distribution
Users of Zoom campus licence accounts agree to adhere to Swiss laws and regulations, morality and the rights of third parties (namely rights to names, copyrights, data protection, etc.).
- Zoom links must not be shared publicly on the internet or on social media.
- Violations of legal or ethical standards (e.g., copyright infringement, discriminatory, racist, or pornographic content) are strictly prohibited.
- Recordings (audio/video) may only be made with the explicit consent of all participants.
6. Sanctions in Case of Misuse
UZH reserves the right to:

- Delete accounts or data,
- Initiate criminal or civil legal action in cases of misuse.

UZH members can participate in externally hosted Zoom events. Please note that for such external meetings, the protection of your data is the sole responsibility of the external meeting organiser.
