SWITCH edu-ID

SWITCH edu-ID is a universal, secure and personal digital identity for lifelong access to services in the university environment. The "SWITCH edu-ID" is mandatory at the University of Zurich for user registration for a all SWITCHaai proected services.

I don't have a SWITCH edu-ID yet. What do I have to do?

Create a personal SWITCH edu-ID and link it to the University of Zurich. This is the only way you can use the services offered in the long term. You can link to the UZH account at https://eduid.uzh.ch/linking/.

I already have a SWITCH edu-ID. What do I have to do?

If you already have a SWITCH edu-ID account, you must link it to the University of Zurich.

What are the advantages of the SWITCH edu-ID?

The SWITCH edu-ID:

  • provides a personal long-lasting account for accessing academic services in Switzerland
  • can be used during and after your studies at UZH
  • can be used during and after your employment at UZH
  • offers a single account for all universities in Switzerland and for national services such as access to libraries

How do I log in to the services affected in the future?

Select your organisation in the selection list and log in with your SWITCH edu-ID and password.

How can I set up two-factor authentication (2FA/MFA) using SWITCH edu-ID?

For security reasons, we recommend that you select the "Always" option when configuring the 2FA.
