The Exchange of Large Files with Dropfiles

Dropfiles is used to send or receive files that are too large to attach to an email.

Dropfiles serves as a temporary platform for exchanging large amounts of data. The respective data will be deleted at the latest 15 days after the upload.

Important: The sending or receiving of files > 200GB should be discussed with the support beforehand.

 

The use of Dropfiles

Browser-Upload
  • Dropfiles-Webinterface for File-Upload
  • You send the download links via Dropfiles-Webinterface (incl. automatic generic password) to the recipient.
  • The recipient downloads the files via download link.
  • If there are problems with the browser upload , use a sftp-Client for the Upload.

Detailed instructions

  • Create a dropzone in the Dropfiles-Webinterface
  • You send the upload link of the dropzone via email to the external person.
  • The external person uploads the files to the dropzone and informs you if there are any problems.
  • You download the files via Dropfiles webinterface.
  • If there are problems with the browser download, use a sftp-client for the download.

  • You use an sftp-Client to upload the files.
  • You send the download link via the Dropfiles-Webinterface(including an automatically generated generic password) to the recipient.

Dropfiles with Webdav

 

Frequent users of Dropfiles can use WebDAV to mount their Dropfiles folder like a network drive and then access their Dropfiles data just like a normal folder.

Settings Explanation
Protocol For the exchange of data https (port 443),sftp (port 23) and ftp (port 21) are provided.
Download Link The download link that can be sent to a user by e-mail is valid for a maximum of 10 days.
Search The indexer is not activated.
Backup The data for this service is not backed up.
