Password and Account

For employees: If you are unable to reach our helpline due to the current request to change your password, please contact your institute's IT manager directly.

During your studies or work at the University of Zurich, you will make use of numerous IT services. The Identity Manager allows you to independently manage your personal access details for all UZH online services, such as e-mail, Active Directory ADFS etc. In order to use the IT services, you must first set up the passwords for the corresponding accounts in the Identity Manager service.

All passwords must be changed in theIdentity Manager.

Identity Management:
The Identity Management Service is the central administration of all accounts and persons.
Access is now possible with Active Directory login and multi-factor verification.
The identity password is only required to change the password or for console access.www.identity.uzh.ch

Active Directory:
Access to services that use the local Active Directory or Azure Active Directory with multifactor (MFA / 2FA).
Collaboration with M365 (OneNote, OneDrive, Teams, Outlook,...) l ogin to Microsoft online services only with your primary email address, see Userprofile.
ZOOM, PrintPlus, student portal, module booking, Citrix, computer workstations, Windows domain UZH, VPN, WLAN, etc.

WLAN:
SSID "eduroam" - eduroam, used on the campus of another university thanks to SSID eduroam.
SSID "uzh" or "uzh-5GHz" - The Active Directory password must be used for the wireless network of the University of Zurich.

WebPass:
(expiring) access to some backend systems such as theCMS Magnolia

Services with special usage:

WebMod FTP server Access to the "classic" web server (in addition to UniCMS), only available via special request and only for functions.

Identity Management

The Identity Management service centrally manages all users and their accounts. Access is provided via Active Directory (UZH standard login) in combination with multi-factor authentication (MFA / 2FA).

Note for IT administrators:
The Identity Management password is only required for password changes or console access.

Active Directory (UZH Standard Login)

To access these services, use your UZH email address.
Active Directory is commonly used together with MFA.

Examples of services that use Active Directory:

• User profile
• Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, OneNote, etc.)
• Zoom
• PrintPlus
• Student portal
• Module booking
• Citrix
• Workplace and Collaboration (UZH VPN, Wi-Fi, eduroam)

WebPass

Note:
The WebPass service is being phased out. It is currently still used to access some backend systems, such as the Magnolia CMS.

WebMod

This service is not intended for individual users and can only be used upon special request.

WebMod is exclusively intended for system access.
